Hi Michael

So do you mean after you have replaced the processor. You are still seeing the #3 lighted up amber?

If you haven't done so already, please try to do a power cycle: Press and hold the power button for 30seconds while the server is unplugged from the power source.

If the issue still persist, and you confirmed the new processor is working fine, then most likely is the processor socket on the motherboard is causing this issue.

Let us know how it goes.

Hi michael

I think you require the SMTD(Dell Systems Management Tools and Documentation
) DVD for the OS installation.

Here's the link:-
http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/my/en/mylca1/DriverDetails/DriverFileFormats?DriverId=68RWT&FileId=2731101038

You will have to combine the 2 ISOs into 1 and burn it as an ISO file.

Please let us know how it goes.

Hi Michael, according to your error, it is most likely a Windows corrupted issue. RAID settings will not cause corrupted system32 files, it will cause entirely no boot, for example, error no boot device found.

I'm not so sure how to replace those corrupted system32 files, I would suggest a Windows repair instead.

Hope this helps!

", the reboots seem to be happening in the middle of the night in the US" This is the time US power utilities do grid switching causing power anomalies(China is likely worse).
. Motherboards have sensor with thresholds, as to when a mother will cause a reset. Sometimes the sensor circuits become more or less sensitive due to component going out of spec. Without an expensive power analyzer, very hard to monitor power problems. Could be the motherboard, or the power supply has a off spec component.
Is this server on a UPS with a fairly new battery? If on a UPS with an older battery, I have had server roll over, even though other servers were on the same unit. Doubt it is raid hardware (rare) or other external hardware, from my experience you would error out on a server start up, experience a freeze or blue screen. As to the PS or motherboard, I would give equal weight to which would be failing, maybe a bit more to the mobo. You have other 2950s, any possibility of swapping power supples?
